Particular taste buds???

So is it just me, or do you eat certain "health" foods that you think are out of this world good, only to be told by others that it tastes nasty???

I think I've developed taste buds for healthy eating and get really excited when I make, or discover, a recipe or food that "resembles" something unhealthy but instead is great for you. It tastes good, in my mouth. But the look on others faces tells me otherwise!

Does this happen to you?

  1. I know what you mean....from both sides. I've tasted something that someone told me was awesome (fresh Kefir for example) and thought it tasted really bad. On the other hand, there are many healthy things that I like that my husband cringes at.

I think that most all veggies are delish....my kids and husband don't agree :)

  2. Yup, I think my taste buds are wired differently. You've seen what I eat, you know what I mean :)

  3. This comes at a very appropriate time for me - When I returned from Whole Foods yesterday I had 2 packages of tempeh. My family looked at it and went, "UGH...GROSS!" and of course I became very defensive (not sure why I care). I said to Chris, "If you can eat pig's blood I can sure as hell eat soy products!" I was referring to the black pudding he had in London on our honeymoon.

When I ate BFL protein pancakes I thought they were outstanding (I still like them!) but my best friend and Chris think they're foul. I think everyone else is weird..heheheh...
